The Whitefish Volleyball team officially opened their season Tuesday, traveling over to Kalispell to match up with the Flathead Bravettes.

This was the first official match of the season for the Dawgs, counting toward their overall record.

Whitefish got some early competition under their belt last weekend at the Northwest-Southwest Tip-Off Tournament. The Bulldogs went 3-0-3 across six matches, winning nine of the 12 sets they played. Whitefish picked up sweeps over Stevensville, Frenchtown and Dillon, while splitting with Corvallis, Hamilton and Butte Central.

On Tuesday, Whitefish jumped out to an early lead and took set one, 25-15.

Flathead bounced back to take set two, 25-15.

It was all Whitefish from there. The Bulldogs won set three, 25-20, and took the fourth set, 25-16.

Postgame, Head Coach Addy Connelly had this to say:

"Girls played aggressive all-out volleyball tonight. They were taking risks and swinging aggressively. Avery Orme and Hannah Szady did a great job blocking tonight, while Allie Shors had six setter dumps on the night. Freshman Abby Brooks shined with two aces, nine kills and two blocks. Annabelle Barrile led the team with 10 kills and 13 digs. It was a well-rounded effort in the evening to start our regular season."

With the win, Whitefish Volleyball officially opens the season 1-0.

Up Next: It's the home opener for Whitefish on Tuesday, September 8th, when they play host to Frenchtown. Varsity is slated for a 7:15 p.m. start time.
