Senior Night Dub: Dawgs Chop Loggers

    It was Senior Night for the Whitefish High School Boys Baskketball team, Thursday, as they played host to Libby.

    The Dawgs entered Thursday in search of a win. 

    On Senior Night they also wanted to send the seniors off the right way... And they did just that.

    The two seniors: Aiden Rickels and Creed Scott were honored pre-game, both started the game and each player made their impact felt in their last ever home game inside the Dawg Pound.

    Whitefish got off to a blazing start, scoring 22 in the opening frame and led 22-10 after one quarter of play.

    The Loggers would not go away. Libby outscored the Dawgs in the 2nd but Whitefish took a 35-22 lead into the halftime lockerroom.

    The two teams exchanged blow-for-blow in the 3rd and Whitefish led 50-37 after three quarters.

    In the fourth Libby started out strong cutting the lead to six but Whitefish had an answer. Libby had outscored Whitefish 14-7 early in the frame but the Dawgs scored 11 of the games final 12. Aiden Rickels hit the dagger 3 to seasl it while Creed Scott scored in the final quarter to puncuate the 68-51 victory.

    Nine different players scored for the Dawgs. Will Sisson led the way with 23 points. Leo Bungener added 12.

    With the win, Whitefish improves to 6-9 on the season, 2-7 in conference play.

    In the girls game, the Lady Dawgs were on the road at Libby.

    Whitefish got out to an early 15-3 lead after one and led 26-8 at the half. 

    The Lady Dawgs put the game away in third dropping 20 points in the frame as they cruised to the 50-29 victory.

    Whitefish was led by Avery Orme with 19 while Allie Shors tallied 12.

    With the win the Lady Dawgs are now 10-5 overall, 6-3 in conference play. The Lady Dawgs sit at No. 3 in the conference and control their own destiny for a spot in the Divisional Tournament.

    Up Next: Both teams have just 3 games remaining in the regular season.

    On Saturday, both teams travel to Bigfork. Girls at 5pm, boys to follow.

    The following Tuesday, both teams travel take the trek across Highway 40 to face Columbia Falls. Girls at 6pm, boys to follow.

    Then on Tuesday, the 24th, the girls hit the home hardwood for their senior night while the boys are on the road.
